Notes from building, fixing and occasionally breaking things.
MOVING PROJECTS OFF FIREBASE STUDIO
Firebase Studio is being shut down, so we have started moving existing projects into a stack we can keep using: VS Code, Codex, Git and Cloudflare.
THE APP BUILT. THE DEPLOY DID NOT.
Next.js gave us a clean build and Cloudflare still failed. That was a mildly irritating way to learn the build and the deploy were two separate problems.
THE DESKTOP HERO LOOKED TERRIBLE ON A PHONE
We tried making one hero image cover both desktop and mobile. Technically it worked. Visually it did not.
WE REALLY DID SPEND THIS LONG ON AN UNDERSCORE
The cursor beside the BinaryAcid wordmark was wrong by a tiny amount, which somehow made it impossible to stop noticing.
SOME EXPERIMENTS ARE JUST GOING TO FAIL
If BinaryAcid only shows the things that worked, it stops being much of a lab.
THE SITE HAD STARTED COLLECTING LITTLE ANNOYANCES
Nothing was dramatically broken. There were just enough tiny inconsistencies that the whole thing was starting to feel less finished than it actually was.
